Coal Trains in Snohomish County

Have your voice heard on the 3rd Thursday of the month, 3-15 at the Evergreen Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 1607 Fourth Avenue in Marysville at 6:30 p.m.about the development of  a new coal export facility at Cherry Point, north of Bellingham. 20 or more trains that are 1 1/2 miles long traveling the length of our state and through Snohomish County to Cherry Point.

There are 12 railroad crossings in Marysville alone - think of all of the traffic congestion and blocked businesses during the time these trains are traveling through. 130+ cars and 2 extra-large engines at either end make these noisier than normal as well. Freight trains are good - economical and environmentally sound, but these coal trains are beyond the normal freight train. Read about it in the Green News click here
