As an artisan coffee roaster, I often receive requests and orders for “Fair Trade-Organic-Shade Grown” coffees.In an effort to assist and educate our friends and customers, I like to take the time and explain the differences. We often read and hear about Organic, Shade Grown and Fair Trade Coffees. While these terms are often used cohesively, they are in fact are separate and distinct.
